Who You Are

I think one of the most difficult parts about growing up is staying true to yourself because most of the time we aren’t so sure of who that person is. It’s so easy to want to change in order to fit it in with the popular-crowd. And I could never blame you for hiding a part about yourself simply because others might find it to be weird, I’ve even done it myself. I think we all just want to be loved and accepted, and in a perfect world we would be; but ours isn’t so perfect.

Sometimes when our friends aren’t reaching out as much and we’re just generally feeling unwanted, we decide to make changes to ourselves in order to create a brighter appeal. We might even do things we normally wouldn’t, but this isn’t us; so we make mistake after mistake until one day we’re left to wonder where things went wrong. And that’s okay.

We all get lost sometimes. This life is tough and it’d be a miracle if we didn’t have some sort of lapse of judgement at some point. Besides, change is inevitable. What’s important isn’t that you stay the same, but that you hold onto even the tiniest pieces of what make you YOU. And if you’re having trouble with figuring out who that person is… think about the things that make you happiest, the lessons your parents taught you as a child growing up. Think about your saddest days and how you wished things turned out. Think about the people you want to help in the world and the places you want to travel to most; because that’s you and no matter what you go through in your life, no one can change those things about you.

Don’t lose who you are just because others can’t see how amazing that person already is. There is NOTHING wrong with you. And you need to always remember that on both your saddest and your happiest of days. Be passionate about the things you love and share that enthusiasm with others. Your thoughts deserve to be heard and your opinions matter. You are truly wonderful, now go show the whole word what you’re made of. Happy scrolling and safe blogging 🙂
